Face Loader & Truck

Buffalo Crushed Stone began in 1904 with one quarry on Wehrle Drive, founded by James Savage. The original product was cut stone for the many stone houses that dot the Buffalo region. The company has changed ownership a few times since then and has added numerous operations and construction products. In 1982, then owner, Richard Garman acquired the Buffalo Slag Company adding Como Park Quarry, Woodlawn Slag, Franklinville Sand and Gravel, Alfred Sand and Gravel, and Olean Blacktop to its operations throughout Western New York. Buffalo Crushed Stone was sold to and became a wholly owned subsidiary of New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co., Inc of New Enterprise, PA. in July 2000. Then in 2002, the Barton Road Blacktop plants and various other properties were added when the company acquired Lancaster Stone Products Inc.

Buffalo Redi-Mix Company, an affiliate of Buffalo Crushed Stone was formed in 2006. It operates two locations: Buffalo’s only central mix plant at the Gateway Trade Center in Lackawanna, NY and a dry batch plant at Barton Road adjacent to our Wehrle Quarry in Lancaster, NY.

Buffalo Redi-Mix produces New York Department of Transportation approved mixes, colored concrete, as well as commercial and residential mixes. Concrete stamps and release agents are also available for rent and purchase.

Buffalo Crushed Stone is very proud of its long history. There are a few reasons for its longevity. One is state of the art equipment such as computer control systems in our plants and the finest crushing and screening technology available. Another is its strong leadership and experienced, well-qualified employees. The average employee has been with the company for 20 years including some with more than 40 years of service. Most important is the close attention paid to quality and the needs of the customer.

With an excellent workforce and a commitment to quality products and service, Buffalo Crushed Stone will be crushing for many more years to come.
