Buffalo Crushed Stone, Inc. began in 1904 with one quarry on Wehrle Drive, founded by James Savage. The original product was cut stone for the many stone houses that dot the Buffalo region. The company has changed ownership a few times since then and has added numerous operations and construction products. In 1982, then owner, Richard Garman acquired the Buffalo Slag Company adding Como Park Quarry, Woodlawn Slag, Franklinville Sand and Gravel, Alfred Sand and Gravel, and Olean Blacktop to its operations throughout Western New York. Buffalo Crushed Stone, Inc. was sold to and became a wholly owned subsidiary of New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co., Inc of New Enterprise, PA. in July 2000. Then in 2002, the Barton Road Blacktop plants and various other properties were added when the company acquired Lancaster Stone Products Inc.
